Christmas Swap

Dear Mich,
Here is my swap. I've made a mini album this time. Pictures are from the cooking class the kids took a few years back in Westin Hotel. Wish they do more these classes especially during Christmas time.

The kids really did enjoy themselves. I don't remember if you have a copy of all the pictures we took on the day. But its ok, this mini album is for you to look back to. Merry Christmas, sweets..

Recent Snapshots

With kind compliments on my previous photo-taking, I would like to share a few more below;

Left: My subject is on Ben & Jerry's (since this are the few stops we have to make when visiting Singapore).

Right: My son, Ariff, staring into his newly bought Ben 10 watch all night.

Catching the expressions on the faces is my aim here. Cheeky, Dira.

I have major fear for heights. I wanted to capture the view of the flyer from way..below.
Singapore Flyer. Sca-ry. (no more rides like these)

Yet another expression caught!

Kristy Fabric Faboosh Mini Album

Front cover: Raya Celebrations '09.

My proud paper flower sits on the top of this page.
Paper flowers are something I've always wanted to make but never got around to it.

Batik fabric on paper, paper of fabric, fun fun. Play play.

Going for classes are always great fun for me. What an excitement to try something new, something old, something blue... hehehe.. Always there are tips, techniques, ideas that I pick up along the way. Maybe also the more courage to try something uncertain of the results especially so when there's an expert to get answers from, the teacher.

I remember this..

Nilla was seated next to me. I was cleaning my stamped, having after stamped Staz On, I loved the colour, (and ofcourse Nilla was watching me), i hesitated for a minute to stamp onto surface, but.... Nilla said, "Go on, go on, try it, try it". We laughed when it didn't turned out the way we wanted it to.. But it was all fun fun fun.. Naughty..Nilla..

ATC Series: Peeling Packing Tape

Peeling Packing Tape Background. I adhered novel pages onto cardstock, randomly stick a few strips of packing tape, burnish well and then as you peel/tear off the packing tape, you'll see you've created a peeling off effect on the novel pages. Sprayed colourwash (colours I've used on ATCs above, are mainly brown colour). After spraying the colourwash over the top, the look you're getting is kinda like a tree bark, the more colours you add into it the more layers you'll see. Add acrylic paints as well to see the different textures.

Here, I've added another cardstock of which I embossed with the Cuttlebug, added a little swish of gold rub'n'buff (gold paste) lightly just getting the top embossed areas. Then to finish off, I added eyelets, paper doilies from Basic Grey and gauze.

Thursday

ATC Series: Embossing Techniques

So here's one with CuttleBug's Embossing Plates (Script Template). It makes a cool texture and looks very old and very vintage. A very weathered look. Use colourwash, distress inks, bronze embossing powder, it all works! Imagine the amount of possibilities I could do with this background if I were to add different colours like green, blue, purple, pink, etc. Or a mix of colours!

Wednesday

ATC Series: Tissue Paper Technique

Tissue Paper Technique is the base (background). Here I've used white tissue paper. The textures tissue paper can create is awesome. Colourwash it with just a small dash of Golden paints, and with Golden, because the pigments are so intense, you'll only need a little dash of paint to cover the whole ATC.
ATC, being small and all, I love that you have to pay more attention to the little details. ATCs are great, if you are just playing (OR practising) techniques on different materials, etc. If you're a card person, it could be a technique or idea you'd repeat onto your cards.
Here's one I did a series for Scrappingville's upcoming ATC Series.

Saturday

Undisclosed Real Life Facts

A Maya Road Chipboard Mini Album. I painted gesso, as a base layer, on all pages including the covers front and back. Embossed in gold and bronze Harlequinn Stamp. Adding more layers with Tissue Papers. I happen to find some cotton textured paper, some what like a big wrapping paper. Colourwashed it with Red Ranger colourwash. Tore out pages from a novel, applied a layer of gesso over it, cut out patterned paper and added my pictures and some lace ribbons.
This mini book is a little keepsake to remind me all of the things my mum used to say to me when I was little and while going thru the pictures, I'd realised that I have quite a few pictures with mum.

Mini Album ~ using just Spritzers

At first, I felt like I was going back to my kindergarten art class when I started my first page.
I just loved how the colours blended together and the many ways to spritzing the wonderful colours.
You'll see that its very satisfying to see that you've started from just plain white paper to some awesome colourful paper, which you have completely 100% control over making your own paper from scratch!
Watercolour Papers + Paint Spritzers = Mini Holiday Scrapbook Pages
You have to try this technique, if you don't have any Colourwashes by Ranger or ready mixed -spritzers by Shimmerz, you could always make some by just adding water into a spritzer bottle and adding a drop or two of acrylic paints and there you have it.. give it a try it's truly truly fun fun fun.
