Us TWO Layout

Ok so I got stuck with this layout. I've got the heading right, just 'Us TWO' that was it. I had nothing more to say nothing less to say, just that.

Jenni Bowlin's Vintage Buttons, I'm lovin' them! From American Craft's Dear Lizzy to Basic Grey's Capella Collection is a change, I know, but I'm also a Gemini. I guess jumping from one idea to another is in my nature. It was challenging though to completely move from cuteness to an somewhat, I would call it, an elegant look. Although, I think the Capella Collection is growing on me.. there will be more to see from these papers!

Layout # 22
p.s. Ok, honestly I don't think I'll  finish 100 layouts in 2010, which was my goal earlier in the year.

Wednesday

Everyday Layout

Over the weeks I have been reading up on digital scrapbooking, not a huge fan myself, but just curious about what hybrid scrapbooking can I try. Hybrid is a combination of the traditional scrapbook + digital. Since I know Ali Edwards uses alot of digital in her current layouts, I decided to give it a try and do what she does on her layouts.

I downloaded Ali Edward's Handwritten Words kit from Designer Digital and followed the instructions on her video tutorial and I learnt how to do this on my photos before I print them out. May I also add, you'll need Photoshop for this and in Ali's video, she takes you through with using the photoshop so no sweat! If I can do it, so can you! I am so loving this now. It looks really neat. Oh, and by the way, I took this photo on the iPhone with one of my favourite Apps, Hipstamatic App.

Here are the photos in jpeg files.

Paperbag Mini Album

A Paperbag album is something I've always wanted to try. I finally finished my mini album, again, with American Crafts Papers and the self adhesive fabric papers.  Completing the album didn't take very long but thinking of what the album is going to be about took the longest time.

I decided to dedicate this album to a compilation of all the little information about all my babies from the meaning of the names, to time they were born, the products they used, their favourite toy, etc. Its a keepsake containing all the little things of their lives.

Nadia means the beginning, the first.

The papers go very well here, little bees, green green grass. I added a safety pin (alright, they never used a safety pin but just for going with the baby theme, we'll just play along).

Nadira means rare, extraordinary, precious.

Ariff means knowledgeable, authority

Nasha means scent, perfume

Being a paperbag album, there are pockets for every page, which works out perfect for me to add little notes to every page or little keepsake.

My paperbag album spine. I've used the fabric papers for the binding of all the pages inside and out.

I dunno about anyone else, but the paperbag album has always been the thing for me, everywhere I look there has always been a desire for me to make one. Maybe because of the texture, or maybe we make it from scratch or maybe how amazing it is we can make something out of something else, this would be an altered mini album.

Friday

Random Layout.

Materials used: American Crafts Botanique Papers, Prima Leaves, Teresa Collins cut out words, Tattered Angels Heidi Swapp Tags.

The Botanique Papers are gorgeous with nearly every paper foiled or glittered.

Photo was taken with my favourite App on the iPhone, MoreLomo. Quality is not as good as a SLR but hey when you're capturing a moment, anything goes.

Thursday

Night & Day Layout

Again I have used the ever so cuteness American Craft Papers the Dear Lizzy Collection. I can't seem to get enough of it. I have also made cards out of the left overs from all the layouts I made. Here, I have used bling brads instead of Kaiser's famous pearl blings.

I'm also loving Jenni Bowlin's Vintage Buttons here I used on top of the heart, how I wish they come in more colours! However, JB have new goodies hot from the CHA Summer here.

Tuesday

Songbird Layout

Honestly, I'm not too sure about this layout, this is not a usual layout for me. I usually don't put too many things onto my layouts. I like to keep things simple and focus on the photos but my thought here was that I'm not very fond of the photo but very much want to write a little something about the moment when Nadira sang for Nasha, it was such a moment for me.

So, I decided to really focus on the embellishments and what I could do with these pretty pretty American Crafts Patterned Papers (I'm so absolutely loving them at the moment, can't get enough of). Inspired by Heidi Swapp's latest projects, here I've scraplifted her idea of the hanging banners (that looks like flags) and layering them, so loving this idea..

Finishing a layout like this one is so not me, but I think I can really grow into making more of these. I'm lovin' it!

Monday

A Beautiful Colourful Butterfly.

Journaling.

You are turning into a young adult so quickly
that I think you revolve by the day.
Some are bad days, some are great days.
But whatever day it is, it’s a memorable one for mama.
And whatever it is, its all part of growing up.
Enjoy the process, because they all become memories.
Some are good and some are bad.
I trust that you will make the right decisions, because
I know you are turning into a beautiful colourful butterfly.

Friday

Dude Layout

In my last post, I mentioned that I'm so into the girly pinks, sweet flowers and cutesy cut outs in my layouts, as soon as I've said that my subconscious mind stepped in and said no, no, no.. here is a totally opposite idea, splats, drips, inks, paints..

Although, I do love the cutesy layouts with cutesy cut outs, however, I do love the arty, colourful mess too. One of my favourite scrapbook artist, Dina Wakeley, has uploaded quite awesome stuff on her blog, which has inspired me for this layout. Looking at awesome creations like hers, makes me think, hey I'll do that, but really its not as easy as it looks, which is often the case. So after trying and trying, I got to this.. I think the most important thing here are the colours you plan to use on the layout.

Materials used: White Cardstock, Daler Inks, Acrylic Paints, Tim Holtz's Masks, American Craft Alpha Thickers, DCWV Patterned Paper, DCWV Stitches Rub Ons, Sakura White Ink Pen.

Tuesday

My Baby Angel

Ah, its nice to be creating again. Though, I have been making everything very grungy, very arty, now I'm venturing into making things a bit more girly and very sweet, hence the pinks now, as for now maybe..

Materials used: American Crafts Patterned Papers, Doilies, Prima Marketing Fabric Flowers, Making Memories Patterned Paper (Butterflies), Fancy Pants White Ball Trim, American Crafts Alphabets.

My Quick Fix

A customised album I needed to finish and finally did. Something I started before the birth of Nasha. Since Nasha is sleeping more now, I can finally do something creative. Gosh, the feeling of having to not been able to sit at the table to start on a project is frustrating. So, Yes! I have made something and actually finished it.

Theme here is "Sex and the City". Inspired by Datin Catherine's earlier 'Fun in the City' album.

Materials: 7Gypsies City Scape Album, 7Gypsies Gaffer Tape, DCWV In the City Patterned Paper, Silver Studs by The Robin's Nest Dew Drops, and lots of lots of glitter and Suze Weinberg's Beadazzles.

Ok, so I've been a bit slow on the layouts. But better late than never.

I'm so glad I  can start creating again. I suddenly feel a burst of inspiration to start creating! My quick fix to feeling up to start creating again.

Materials: American Craft Patterned Papers, Unity Stamps, Jenni Bowlin Butterflies Butterfly Stickers.
