Art Class in Dragonfly, Bangsar

Kakak's Fairy Pony

Adik's Winking Mermaid

The girls took art lessons over their mid term break. Spent most of their time at the Dragonfly Art Studio, Bangsar. Joy, the art teacher, is so inspiring. I was really inspired with all the art work she have on display in the Studio. All the kids work are absolutely beautiful. Lovely vibrant colours as you can see here.

What We Did in 2009 Mini Album

This project was inspired by Terri of American Crafts, I really enjoyed making this album, not only did I want to challenge myself with using the sewing machine. But hey, I did it! I completed sewing all the pages of this album within a couple of hours. Yes, I was glad that I finished but I was also very pleased with it.

I'm absolutely loving the fabric self adhesive papers from American Crafts. It was Piradee Talvanna who mentioned them to me, I could not resist but ordered nearly all of the designs. I see there are so many uses for these, you can make them into these beautiful cute-ness flowers, use it on a book spine (like how you would with Gaffer Tape), cut a strip and adhere onto your page layout as you would with a ribbon, and the list goes on.

This little mini album are made out of cardstocks, sewn together, forming pockets for these lovely tags to slide in.

Aren't these papers lovely? I've prepared a kit for completing this album, all set with a step-by-step instruction sheet complete with illustrations. Simply because, its so cute!

Inspirational Journal {pg 1}

{Page 1}
kindness in words creates confidence. kindness in giving creates love.

I'm surprised the journals only arrived yesterday, and we have sold a couple of them already! So fast! I started my inspirational journal shortly after Donna's class. But managed to only paint the pages with watercolours as a background. Yes, I'm trying to get a perfect 'drippage' on my pages, if there is sort of a thing, a perfect drippage.

I started off with yellow watercolour as the background, added in green. With my paint brush, drew the  flowers with their stems. Added red wax crayon then green for the stem. Twisted two strips of patterned paper. Washed down the page with white colourwashes (drippage). You'll see the wax reacts as a resist and will resist the white paint. To finish, I painted over the whole page with Ranger's Distress Picket Fence Crackle Paint. Lastly, I then added the words.

Delight

The kids and I share a lot of time together in the car while shuffling them back and forth from school. We talk about our day at school, then plan what we are to do next, we sometimes take funny pictures again and again. Nadira and I were trying to fit our faces onto the mirror to snap a picture together.

Journal on this page: Each day brings with it another chance to live in the moment.

I traced the heart with black watercolour pencil, mist the black with water to bring out the colour, same way I did for the title Delight.

The red and orange hearts, I inked with Distress Inks then mist with water to blend the colours in.

Drip diluted white acrylic paint on the top of the page then mist with water.

Discover ~ Canvas Layout

Watercolours are now my current thing. Its made me realised the beautiful bright colours and the effect of the blending in of different colours are absolutely yummy.

I've used watercolour palettes for the background of the canvas, acrylic inks by Daler Rowney (purple for flowers) and watercolour pencils for the green stems. Pink tags are again the red acrylic inks by Daler.

Stamp: "if you can imagine it, YOU can achieve it." ~ Unity Stamp

Butterfly shaped pearls by Prima.

Ok, maybe its safely to say that my new favourite colour would be BLUE now.. for now that is..

"there is great meaning in life for those who are willing to journey".

"simple and pure".

"love so radiant and bright".
